Kelly Seiler

Kelly holds an Electrical Engineering degree from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo.  Her key interests are in robotics, controls, and human factors.  While earning her degree she interned at Qualcomm, SANDPIPA, Cisco, Duke Energy, and Disney Imagineering.  She currently works as a Systems Safety Engineer at Northrop Grumman, Integrated Systems on the Global Hawk.  The Global Hawk is an autonomous air vehicle (aka flying robot) designed to replace the U-2, a 1950s spy plane.  The Global Hawk is utilized in Iraq and Afghanistan as well as for peacekeeping missions such as passing infrared pictures to firefighters during the California wildfires and searching for survivors after Hurricane Ike.

She is a founding member of Connect1NG San Diego.  Connec1NG is a Northrop Grumman initiative aimed at retaining new employees.  The group facilitates professional development programs, speaker discussions, access to company leadership, community service activities, and social events.

Kelly is involved in the Society of Women Engineers (SWE).  She is the Public Relations Chair for the San Diego SWE Section, which includes maintaining swesandiego.org and taking part in the outreach activities.  Additionally she is the San Diego Section Representative on the Council of Representatives.  The Council of Representatives or COR is the chief legislative and policy determining body of the Society.

Kelly also mentors a robotics club at a local high school and is a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).

In her spare time Kelly enjoys playing soccer, swing dancing, debating politics, gardening, rock climbing, hiking, and other outdoor activities.
